In mystical works, resurrection has five types and levels. Meanwhile, the small and great self-resurrections are believed to be two types of mystical resurrections. However, the small self-resurrection is realized in the form of optional death and the emergence of the truths of purgatory for the seeker before total annihilation and reaching God. Analyzing this type of resurrection in the teachings of the Ahl al-Bayt (AS), including Imam Sadegh (AS), is the goal of this study because the review of mystical claims in the Quran and the tradition adds to the validity of these claims and shows that these facts are the main origin of Islamic mysticism. The research findings show that in the words of His Holiness, the importance of attaining the position of "optional death" is explicitly ordered, and "average and greatest Jihad" followed by "average and greatest death" are recommended as the prerequisites and foundation for reaching the position.
