The Household of the Prophet is one the foundational principles of Islam that results in a unity and harmony amongst the entire Muslim denominations. However, the unity has been placed in jeopardy by the emergence of Ibn Taymiyyah and his challenging viewpoints regarding the Household of the Prophet. Both proponents and opponents of Ibn Taymiyyah agree that his viewpoints are radical and offensive especially when he refers to the characteristics of Imam Ali. However it is not agreed whether all his positions are related with the set of beliefs of Islam or not. Employing a descriptive-analytical method, by this article we aim at depicting a comprehensive overview of the positions maintained by the Muslim scholars toward Ibn Taymiyyah, s viewpoints about the Household of the Prophet to analyze them in a more realistic way.

Not only in Shiite sources but also in Sunnite ones, the texts (Nusoos) in approval of the Imamate of the twelve offspring of the Household of the Prophet according the immediate decree of God are so abundant that could be simply considered as Motavater (Frequently Narrated). Faisal Noor, a contemporary Wahhabi writer, tends to reject all those texts in his Kitab-ul-Imama-va-Nass through the Shiite sources as he claims. In some part ofthe work, having quoted a number of Narrationsof the Prophet, he concludes that there is not any text in approval of the Imamateof the twelve offspring of the Household, claiming that all those texts have been forged by the Shiite Hadith scholars. Based on descriptive-analytical method, this article criticizes Faisal, s claim and demonstrates that the Narrations he mentions were issued by the Prophet usually as a result of his followers, not being prepared to accept Imam Ali as his successor.

The position of the Prophets and Imāms is one of the theological problems that has resulted in the development of various points of view amongst the Shiite scholars such as the Imāmis, Zaydis and Ismāilies. Every Shiite theological sect faces the problem according to its own methodology and epistemological principles. The Imamis take three different approaches toward it namely rational, mystical and Narration-oriented. The Zaydis often maintain a rational approach toward it while the Ismāilies tend to study the problem based on implicit interpretations.

Mālik Ashtar Nakhaee and Ash,ath Bin Gheys Kendi were the two prominent figures during the Caliphate of Imam Ali whose positions were changed as the event of Hakamiyyah took place in the battle of Seffin, putting them at the two sides of a dispute in which the influence of the latter surpasses that of the former while it was vice versa up to then. As an effort to answer what the reason behind the increase or decrease of their influence was, this article hypothesize that "the position and influence of the two Yamani generals were subject to the general atmosphere of the community and the battle of Seffin". Our discriptive-analytic research also shows that the dispute also resulted in the schism of Malik, s proponents so that they even fell into a conspiracy to assassinate Imam Ali, being in doubt whether to obey him as Amir-ul-Mo,menin (The Commander of the Believers) or not.

The Safavids ascended the throne in an era up to which the people of Persia had witnessed several Shiite political movements rising and falling in an attempt to establish a religiously legitimate government. The experience brought along such a legitimacy for the Safavids whose emergence was a milestone in the history of Shiite political thought, as it was then that the Shiite scholars tended to develop the theory of Shiite Sultanism, in an attempt to legitimize it. Authors like Mohaghegh-e Sabzevāri, Feyz-e Kāshāni and Mohammad Bāgher-e Majlesi who wrote works on politics during the Safavid era developed a new theory to legitimize Shiite Sultanism. Employing Max Weber, s theory of Sultanism along with his definition of legitimacy and its types, this article aims at surveying the positions of above-mentioned scholars to present a new definition for the legitimacy of Shiite Sultanism

For centuries, there had been a disagreement amongst the Muslim scholars over the problem that whether the Khabar (Account), as a source of knowledge in various fields of studies of religion such as jurisprudence, theology and interpretation of Quran, could be considered argumentable or not. In this article the problem is surveyed during one of the initial eras of Imami theology namely the School of Baghdad along with the positions of the outstanding figures then such as Sheikh Mufeed, Seyyed Morteza and Sheikh Toosi. They almost agree on Khabar, s being argumentable whether it is Motavāter (Frequently Narrated) or Vāhed (Narrated Once), according to their division of it. This article is an effort to prove that they had not a comprehensive perception of entire various aspects of the problem as they claim that there is not any rational barrier to consider a Vāhed Khabar argumentable.
